As a child I would have thought God’s power is an all-consuming earthquake which destroys all who do not follow him.
Or I would have thought of Morgan Freeman…
But what really is God’s power?
The power of God is the gospel, and Him changing people’s lives since the beginning of time.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16
His power is boundless and He does as pleases.
“and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might”
Ephesians 1:19-21
Who can understand God and what he does?
“Have you not known? Have you not heard?
Isaiah 40:28
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.”
He gives power to the weak.
“He gives power to the faint,
Isaiah 40:29
and to him who has no might he increases strength.”
It saves.
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. “
1 Corinthians 1:18
It’s abundant.
“He determines the number of the stars;
Psalm 147:4-5
he gives to all of them their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.”

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,”
Ephesians 3:20
